SME binding
After replacing a new SME (Smart Module Electronics) unit in electric and hybrid BMW vehicles, programming and binding to the vehicle is mandatory. SME is the high-voltage battery control unit responsible for HV system start, charging and communication between the battery and other vehicle control units.
Without correct initialization and synchronization, the new SME unit will not work and the vehicle will not be able to activate the high-voltage system.
The service includes:
- Binding the new SME unit to the vehicle
- Programming and coding the unit
- Synchronization with the high-voltage battery and other modules
- HV system activation
- Removing errors after unit replacement
