Software update BMW

BMW vehicles, like any other devices with software, require regular updates. We perform both full software updates and partial updates of individual control units, depending on the vehicle tasks and needs.

Why update software:
- Fixing software errors that may lead to mechanical damage of units and assemblies
- Adding new functions that improve comfort, safety and convenience while driving

When it is especially worth updating:
- If something went wrong during coding
- After chip tuning, when the vehicle behavior does not meet expectations and a factory version is needed
- After automatic transmission repair if the transmission had chip tuning, to avoid repeated faults
- In case of errors after work with ecological systems (EGR, DPF, AdBlue), a software update is recommended before such interventions
- For accurate diagnostics, because third-party interventions may mask errors and the scanner may not see them while the vehicle is in emergency mode
- After installing used control units, such as headlights or blind spot radar, if their software level does not match the level of other control units

All updates are performed using dealer equipment ICOM, ISTA and ESYS software, and original BMW databases.
